RESOLUTIONS

‘Once you have missed the first buttonhole, you’ll never manage to button up". Goethe makes the point that beginnings are important.
That beginnings are important is a truism affirmed by the authors of the Book of Genesis and St John’s Gospel, both of whom chose ‘In the beginning …’ as the opening phrase in their book.

Every new day is a call for a new beginning, none more so than New Year’s Day.  At this time, we may determine to replot our course in some small way or even to make a major adjustment in our lives - our New Year Resolution!

It does not take us long to discover that new beginnings can be not only important but also difficult. David Lurie's father assures him: ‘All beginnings are hard … especially a beginning you make for yourself. That’s the hardest beginning of all.’

‘All beginnings are hard … especially a beginning you make for yourself. That’s the hardest beginning of all.’

Given my own life experience, I know this so well! :o)

Happy New Year!
Although it is tradition to make life changes clocking in on January 1, in reality, any day is suitable for beginning a life change or stating a resolution. Any resolution takes repetition to become ingrained, thus those resolutions that last more than 60 days are usually those that will be kept throughout the year ahead.

Have a safe and joy-filled new year. I look forward to exchanging viewpoints with you throughout 2017.

Have a happy and safe New Year!
i don't believe in "new year's resolutions"

the impulse to "begin" comes when it will

may your "beginnings" bring you joy whenever they come
Blessings!
What a lovely analogy!
