TOPICAL COMMENT?

One of today's readings in Church!

Hebrews 8:6-9, 13

6. But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
7. For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.
8. But God found fault with the people and said:

“The days are coming,
when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
9 It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they did not remain faithful to my covenant,
and I turned away from them,
declares the Lord........
13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

not sure what the point is
the old covenant did not disappear
in the words of Sondheim - many a Jew has said "and I'm still here"
even after Hitler

if it the quote is applied to Trump and his boast to make things new
well, history shows us - it doesn't happen
i guess in four years we will say, "and I'm still here"
But the Old is still around two thousand years on and the people of that book with it.

I have a foot in both camps as it were and I find this statement disturbing.

Thanks to my Jewish maternal great grandmother, I'm here, even though the Jewish relatives I should delight in are not.................
I'm very glad the writer of Hebrews was wrong and the old covenant and the new are still here.
And even the Pope has denounced supersessionism.

Jew here. We're definitely still doing our thing. It rocks pretty hard.
