SAD

YESTERDAY, MALTA'S FAMOUS AZURE WINDOW COLLAPSED INTO THE SEA

The 50-metre-high limestone Azure Window arch on the island of Gozo, in Dwejra Bay, has been completely destroyed by heavy storms - even the stacks have gone.

Formed millions of years ago, when two limestone sea caves collapsed to form the arch, there is now no visible rock left above sea level.

As well as being photographed by tourists from around the world, the geological wonder had appeared in several films including Clash Of The Titans (1981) and The Count Of Monte Cristo (2002), as well as first season of Game of Thrones.

Oh that is really sad :(
I remember when that happened at Marsden Rock in the NE of England, inevitable of course, but always a rather sad natural progression.
the sea has awesome power
Orkney has a number of these wonderful stacks and arches (the Old Man of Hoy is probably the best known) all of which are similarly threatened.
Oh, how sad!

Though of course inevitable. The sea takes it all eventually.
I heard this last night. What a shame!

Such a loss! I'm sorry it's gone.
Wow! That must have been some storm to take the stacks as well.
