Third Sunday of Advent Prayer

candlesGod of hope,
you call us home from the exile of selfish oppression
to the freedom of justice,
the balm of healing,
and the joy of sharing.

Make us strong to join you in your holy work,
as friends of strangers and victims,
companions of those whom others shun,
and as the happiness of those whose hearts are broken.

We make our prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Comments

Beautiful prayer. I copied it a posted it to someone who is teaching prisoners to write. Hope you don't mind.
And I'm that someone! And thank you Patty--and I'll respond to your comments in my journal soon. You saw athgarvan's post before I did, and I appreciate your calling it to my attention. We do read each other's journals, but having another person point to something makes it stand out extra-more ♥

athgarvan, thank you. You call us home from the exile of selfish oppression --so much goodness in those words, each one.
you are very w3elcome indeed.
'friends of strangers and victims,
companions of those whom others shun,
and as the happiness of those whose hearts are broken.'

I wish people would sometimes remember that these were the deeds of the Prophet himself

Yes, indeed, and so often forgotten. Thank you.
