LÁ FHÉILE PÁDRAIG

Happy St. Patrick's Day to my readers.

From the 'Lorica' (Breastplate) of St. Patrick:

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.

i remember the Breastplate set to music which we sang when i was in college
the translation was a bit different but the message the same

Many Blessings!
That's interesting. I wonder if that is in any way related to the Navajo Night Chant... I'm sure the Night Chant is much older.

With beauty may I walk.
With beauty before me, may I walk.
With beauty behind me, may I walk.
With beauty above me, may I walk.
With beauty below me, may I walk.
With beauty all around me, may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, lively, may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, living again, may I walk.
It is finished in beauty.
That similarity is interesting. I must check it out. Thank you.
