A thing of beauty . . .

This evening I attended the funeral of the father of a colleague of mine in Tramore, Co. Waterford. It was my first time to cross the river Suir by the new (2009) Cable Stayed Bridge and City Bypass. The whole project cost €500m to build but, lo-and-behold, it was completed within budget and 10 months ahead of schedule! As the bridge connects County Kilkenny to Waterford the toll station on it has been nick-named the Cat-Flap!  The project was undertaken to alleviate pressure on the Edmund Rice draw-bridge on the city's quay but this, apparently, hasn't happened.
