Easter Religious Ceremonies

We had quite a large turn-out for the Holy Week liturgies here in Wexford. Last night we had the Easter ceremonies which were also well attended. The Vigil ceremonies included the lighting of the Paschal Fire and Candle (while all around was dark), the thrice repeated exclamation The Light of Christ, the singing of the Exsultet, the Readings, the Liturgy of Initiation (including the baptism of a new-born), the Renewal of Baptismal Vows, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist (Mass).

And at midday today we had Mozart's Missa Brevis in C, K258 - Kyrie, Gloria,Sanctus, Agnus Dei. - also: O Filii et Filiae (Tisserand ofm d. 1494), Hallelujah Chorus (Handel d.1759), Regina Coeli (Lotti d.1740), Lyrica Davida (14 cent.), Prelude VI op. 101 (Stanford d.1924), with Roisín Dempsey (soprano), Madeleine Mulhall (mezzo soprano), Eamonn Mulhall (tenor), John Dempsey (bass).

In all a very uplifting experience.
