Timirí Éamainn Rís

The Messengers of Edmund Rice, Timirí Éamainn Rís, are a community of Catholic men and women scattered throughout Ireland who support each other in living out the compassion and courage of Blessed Edmund in their daily lives. The group was founded in Dublin in 1989 by a small group of Christian Brothers and former members of the Congregation.

From the beginning the group was firmly based on prayer and reflection. Today there are twelve Timirí groups in different parts of the country, made up of former Christian Brothers, their partners and friends, Christian Brothers plus their friends and colleagues.

The groups meet once a month for prayer and reflection together. These simple gatherings, based on faith in the risen Jesus living in our hearts, have set the scene for moments of deep peace, reconciliation, understanding, joy and commitment to reach out to those in need.

Dick Fields, one of the founders of Timirí is at present in Cochabamba, Bolivia, living with and helping the local Christian Brothers who are working with street children. The work is difficult and challenging but good progress is being made. Life for so many people there is so difficult. They really know what austerity is! He keeps an excellent Blog which can be reached at  www.getjealous.com/dfields
