"Welcome to the United Nations!"

ERIUNDP_LogoSaid Mr. Joop Theunis-sen when Edmund Rice International received Consultative Status at the United Nations recently. Br. Kevin Cawley represented the ERI. What is the significance of this?

ERI can now take its place in all deliberations at civil society level of the UN. They can deliver a point of view, invoke gospel values, and affix their name to significant documents on issues around human rights, rights of the child, right to education and care of the earth. They can ask important questions and form partnerships with like-minded organizations to bring pressure to bear on states and alliances. And they can bring the learnings of the UN agencies and its global perspective to the Edmund Rice network and so strengthen its charism in works of justice and advocacy. It also enables ERI to accredit its own personnel to attend the UN.
