Superstition about the number 13

Isn't it amazing how the tradition about the number 13 being unlucky is still alive and well even today. Apparently the superstition is found in many cultures. One hypothesis holds that 13 is a reflection of the human fear of the unknown since it is the first number that cannot be enumbered using our 10 fingers and two feet.

vehicle registration
From 1987 to 2012  Irish car registrations had the format 12–WX–3456 i.e year of registration/county/car number. This year the Irish Government, fearing the superstition against the number ‘13’ would hurt sales, decided to change the registration plate to 131-WX-2345.
