Wexford Fringe Festival 2013

Today Wexford opens its annual Opera Season with a fringe festival (23 Oct - 3 Nov). This is its 61st Fringe - not bad for a small town.

Unlike a curated festival, the open-access nature of Wexford Fringe means that anyone with a show, exhibition or cultural event is able to register and be part of one of the most diverse fringe festivals in Ireland, renowned for fresh ideas, spontaneity and fun.

It takes over the entire town with over 300 events staged in pop up venues as well as established venues such as theatres, hotels, art galleries, cafes and civic buildings.
For independent artists, the Fringe is an inspirational environment to showcase their work. For audiences, it’s an opportunity to see exciting and entertaining contemporary work in an atmosphere that encourages taking a chance and seeing and discovering something new.

The Wexford Opera Season itself begins next Wednesday.
