Interesting, if you look at this area on a map there are bridges just a little way up river, between Brazil and Paraguay, and between Brazil and Argentina, but not between Argentina and Paraguay.
Based on the appearance of the water, maybe the currents are too strong to build bridges there.
No need for bridges if you just drive fast enough?
I shall now have to pick my beloved's brain about this. Being Argentinian maybe he'd have something interesting to say about "why."
