Wexford Opera

Tomorrow we have the 61st season of opera in town. Wexford normally
produces unfamiliar operas. This year we have Il Cappello di Paglia di
Firenze (
Nino Rota); Thérese/La Navarraise (double bill by Jules
Massenet); and Cristina, Regina di Svezia (Giovanni Casanova).

Other small productions will include:untitled
L'elisir D'amore (Donizetti);
La Traviata (Verdi);
Losers (Brian Friel's play by Richard Wargo);
The Sleeping Queen (Balfe)

I'm afraid I can't afford the operas but will enjoy some of the 300
fringe acts - arts, music and other amusements.

Wait.. Giovanni Casanova?

Edit: Ah, I see.. I was thinking of Giacomo Casanova.

Sorry. Jacopo Foroni composed the music, Giovanni Casanova wrote the Italian lyrics.
Once again, I know the unfamiliar composers but none of those works.

The small productions are much more familiar.
I suppose that is the value of opera seasons like Wexford.
